Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Unveiled With 543km Range; Rivals Maruti Suzuki e Vitara in India

Toyota has officially entered India’s fast-growing electric SUV space with the unveiling of the Urban Cruiser Ebella, its first mass-market all-electric SUV for the country. Positioned in the mid-size EV segment, the Ebella is built on the same platform as the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, but carries distinct Toyota styling and brand-specific tuning. Bookings for the new electric SUV have opened today with a token amount of ₹25,000.

The Urban Cruiser Ebella will compete directly with upcoming and established electric SUVs such as the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, and MG ZS EV, making it one of the most important launches in Toyota’s India roadmap.

The Urban Cruiser Ebella borrows its basic silhouette from the e Vitara but differentiates itself through Toyota’s global design language. At the front, the SUV features a clean, futuristic fascia with sharp LED lighting elements and a sculpted bonnet that adds a muscular stance. Strong character lines run along the sides, while the aerodynamically designed alloy wheels enhance efficiency and visual appeal.

In terms of size, the Ebella measures 4,285mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and around 1,640mm in height, supported by a 2,700mm wheelbase. These proportions place it squarely in the heart of the mid-size SUV category, offering a balance of road presence and cabin space suitable for Indian families.

Toyota is offering a wide range of colour choices, including Cafe White, Bluish Black, Gaming Grey, Sportin Red, and Enticing Silver. Buyers can also opt for dual-tone combinations such as Cafe White, Land Breeze Green, Sportin Red, and Enticing Silver, all paired with a contrasting black roof.

 

Interior, Features and Technology

Inside, the Urban Cruiser Ebella adopts a dual-tone black and brown cabin theme, giving it a premium yet practical feel. The dashboard layout closely mirrors the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, but Toyota has fine-tuned the materials and finish to match its brand identity.

. The SUV also comes equipped with automatic climate control, an air purifier, and connected car technology, meeting expectations from a modern electric vehicle.

On the safety front, Toyota has equipped the Ebella with seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS, offering features such as adaptive cruise control and lane assist to enhance both city and highway driving confidence.

Battery Options, Range and Performance

Toyota is offering the Urban Cruiser Ebella with two LFP battery pack options—49kWh and 61kWh. The larger 61kWh battery powers an electric motor producing 171.6hp and 189Nm of torque, while the smaller 49kWh variant delivers 106hp.

The highlight is the claimed maximum driving range of up to 543km on a single charge, making it one of the longest-range electric SUVs in its class. Toyota will offer both 2WD and AWD drivetrain options, adding versatility for different driving needs.

The LFP battery setup supports AC and DC fast charging, ensuring practical charging times for daily use as well as long-distance travel.
